Summer Reading.

The Hunter Becomes the Hunted.

Some details about this assignment:

All grade levels at UPAD are receiving a summer assignment (it's not just you!)
The text: "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell
The basics: Classic short story (one of my favorites from high school!), where a world-renowned hunter unexpectedly becomes the hunted. Engaging, fast-paced, and perfect for a warm-up to the school year.

Along with it is a structured graphic organizer. Fill it out while you read. It contains short sections on predictions, the plot, character analysis, theme, and a brief class discussion preparation.
This isn't busywork. It will be handed in, graded, and used as the basis for our first several days of content.
This assignment is designed to help you start off your junior year with a strong grade in ELA.

This is my fourth year teaching at UPAD, and I'm happy to be a part of a community that values creativity, rigor, and real growth. I teach ELA with a focus on helping you sharpen your voice and think critically about the world around you. Outside the classroom, I coach debate. I am truly looking forward to working with you this year!
