02 · SUMMER READING

Summer Reading.

The Hunter Becomes the Hunted.

Some details about this assignment:

  • All grade levels at UPAD are receiving a summer assignment (it's not just you!)
  • The text: "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell
  • The basics: Classic short story (one of my favorites from high school!), where a world-renowned hunter unexpectedly becomes the hunted. Engaging, fast-paced, and perfect for a warm-up to the school year.
  • Along with it is a structured graphic organizer. Fill it out while you read. It contains short sections on predictions, the plot, character analysis, theme, and a brief class discussion preparation.
  • This isn't busywork. It will be handed in, graded, and used as the basis for our first several days of content.
  • This assignment is designed to help you start off your junior year with a strong grade in ELA.
